Overview - Alliance Masterclass 2010

Achieving outstanding results on major capital projects & services

Alliance contracting is a proven delivery approach to achieving outstanding results on major capital projects & services. Alliance contracting has been proven to drive collaborative win-win outcomes beyond business as usual.

Clients, Contractors and Designers are recognising the benefits of alliancing & as a result seeking ways to transfer the benefits to other forms of contracts & to home organisations (owners & contracting parties alike).

This can be challenging. The challenge is applying this approach to a commercial framework, which is inherently different to Alliance Contracting, in a way that does not jeopardise the commercial framework & the stability of governance, leadership & team performance.

Attendees will:

  • Deconstruct the human factors that make alliances successful
  • Be introduced to concepts of systems thinking & evidence based thinking practices & learn how these practices could be applied to improve project performance
  • Explore positive leadership psychology
  • Learn how to apply this newfound theoretical understanding to designing other relationship contracts
  • Examine the selection & commercial processes
  • Gain strategies to collaborate whilst maintaining contractual boundaries
  • Establish & sustain high performance teams

Attendees will use case studies & be shown a competitive pricing model that uses collaborative dialogue during the bidding process (in effect a competitive ECI model) & how use of non-cost KRAs can support on-going collaboration & improved working relationships.

Attendees will explore how to take Alliance Principles into home organisations. In particular this discussion will explore how to marry creativity & breakthrough thinking with the habitual behaviour of command & control.

Additionally attendees will hold an open discussion & exchange views on the future of alliances & relationship contracts in Australia.
